Another British writer’s beloved work is being reissued with a set of linguistic changes.
The Guardian reports that in April, to commemorate seventy years since the first James Bond novel was released, Ian Fleming’s thrillers will come out again … with almost all uses of the N-word removed.
Some references to the ethnicities of minor characters have been taken out, too.
The new books will have a disclaimer acknowledging the changes and the time period in which the original phrasing appeared.
