Kurt Vonnegut is on his way to the small screen, while Haruki Murakami (er, his creative vision) is close to the big screen again.

Variety reports that Amazon is developing a crime thriller called Helltown, which will follow Vonnegut's life before he came to literary fame.

The eight episodes (each an hour long) will follow the then-car salesman as he tries to solve a murder on Cape Cod.

Helltown, an adaptation of Casey Sherman's book of the same name, could star Oscar Isaac of Ex Machina, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Star Wars fame.

Meanwhile, a movie inspired by seven short stories by Murakami will hit theaters next month.

Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman is based on tales from three different Murakami collections.

Literary Hub has the story titles and film synopsis along with the "very weird" trailer for Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman.

The movie comes out in US theaters on April 14.
