Here's the 2023 Dylan Thomas Prize shortlist

The shortlist for the Swansea University Dylan Thomas Prize has been announced.

The award is among the most prestigious for young writers and honors the best international literature from those thirty-nine and younger.

The winner, who receives £20,000 (about $24,600), will be announced May 11, just a few days before International Dylan Thomas Day (May 14).

Here are the contenders:

• Limberlost by Robbie Arnott 

• Seven Steeples by Sara Baume 

• God's Children Are Little Broken Things by Arinze Ifeakandu 

• I'm a Fan by Sheena Patel 

• Send Nudes by Saba Sams 

• Bless the Daughter Raised by a Voice in Her Head by Warsan Shire

Shire, Patel, Ifeakandu, and Sams are all nominated for their debut publications; last year's winner, No One is Talking About This by Patricia Lockwood, was the author's first novel..
