Two-time National Book Award winner Jesmyn Ward has unveiled the cover of her next novel, Let Us Descend.

The book, which comes out October 3, tells the story of an enslaved teenage girl, weaving together historical fiction, magical realism, and classical influences.

Ward and cover designer Jaya Miceli discuss the imagery choices and design process with Literary Hub.

Meanwhile, author-illustrator Alice Oseman has publicly updated plans for the Heartstopper graphic novel series.

Specifically, rather than having the fifth volume wrap up the saga of British teens Nick and Charlie, Oseman will dedicate two more books to the series's ending.

Head to the Guardian to read more about what to expect in volume five, which comes out November 9 in the UK (in December elsewhere).
