The man who helped bring Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials to the screen has been tapped to adapt the text of another youth-centric novel.

Deadline reports that Jack Thorne will serve as screenwriter for the BBC's adaptation of Lord of the Flies.

"Our family has been encouraged by our discussions with them – and as a result we put our trust in their skills and enthusiasm," said Judy Golding Carver, the author's daughter.
