Here's the latest in pop culture plus literature.
The trailer for the movie version of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins has just come out.
Songbirds and Snakes is a prequel to Collins's smash hit Hunger Games trilogy, focusing on the difficult youth of the series's villain, President Snow.
The movie stars Tom Blyth (Coriolanus Snow), Rachel Zegler (Lucy Gray Baird), Peter Dinklage (Casca Highbottom), Hunter Schafer (Tigris Snow), Jason Schwartzman (Lucretius Flickerman), and Viola Davis (Dr. Volumnia Gaul).
Watch the trailer for The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which premieres November 17, on YouTube.
And in the other direction, here are two celebrities coming to the literary world ...
Comedian and actor Cedric the Entertainer is publishing a novel, titled Flipping Boxcars, on September 12.
Cedric co-wrote the book with Alan Eisenstock; it's described as "a 'valentine' to 1940s crime fiction" and homage to one of Cedric's grandfathers, according to the Associated Press.
And U.S. Rep. Katie Porter (D-California) has been making the media rounds to promote her new memoir, I Swear: Politics is Messier Than My Minivan.
You can listen to NPR's Juana Summers interview Porter (or read a transcript) on All Things Considered.
