The reason we use "bookish" in the title for this post is that neither of these obituaries is for an author.
However, both men played key roles in bringing readers the stories they came to love.
The Guardian has the obituary for John Romita Sr., who illustrated Spider-Man for years and helped create Wolverine; Romita died at age ninety-three.
And the New York Times has the obituary for Robert Gottlieb, who served as editor for an illustrious client list, including John le Carré, Toni Morrison, Joseph Heller, Doris Lessing, Michael Crichton, Ray Bradbury, Antonia Fraser, Barbara Tuchman, and many more.
Gottlieb died Wednesday at age ninety-two.
