Most book lovers feel a reverence for novels (or nonfiction), but they wouldn't call those books "sacred" in earnestness.

But Vanessa Zoltan does.

NPR's Rachel Martin interviewed Zoltan, who's an atheist chaplain and the author of the memoir Praying with Jane Eyre.

Her book, of course, explains what she means by treating literature as a sacred text, but you can preview the book by reading or listening to the conversation about it on All Things Considered.
