Having a highly acclaimed debut hasn't frozen author C Pam Zhang's creativity, fortunately.
2020's How Much of These Hills is Gold was nominated for a number of awards, including the Booker Prize and a National Book Critics’ Circle award, and Zhang herself was chosen as one of the National Book Foundation's 35 Under 35 recipients that same year.
Now she's released a second full-length novel that, like her previous work, puts its characters in a tough, unforgiving landscape, but this time it's the future and not the past.
Released Tuesday, Land of Milk and Honey imagines a world in which crop variety is so minimal that the pleasures of eating are only for the elite.
