Congratulations are in order this morning for Norwegian writer Jon Fosse, who received the 2023 Nobel Prize in Literature.

Fosse is perhaps best known to English readers for his Septology series of novels, but his oeuvre also includes children's books, poetry, essay collections, and plays.

He is, in fact, the most-performed Norwegian playwright after Henrik Ibsen.

You can read coverage of Fosse's Nobel prize in the Guardian and at NPR.

And for a broader view, head to The New York Times to learn how a Nobel winner is chosen and to test your knowledge of past Nobel winners.
