Yesterday morning we had three best-of-2023 lists to share.
Today, that number is up to four. And we're not even highlighting the best-in-genre posts coming from some news sources.

The New Yorker's best of 2023 is broken down into three categories: essentials, nonfiction, and fiction and poetry.

Book Marks crunched the numbers and came up with the best reviewed fiction of 2023.

NPR critic Maureen Corrigan's top ten book list, in her words, affirms the joy of reading widely (in contrast to the era of book-banning we're currently in).

And Goodreads takes the approach that we've taken when we poll readers: staffers (from all departments) chose their favorite reads of 2023 without limiting themselves to books published in this particular year.
