Will this be the final time we tell you we're done with data on 2023?

Let's hope so ...

At any rate, The New Publishing Standard highlights OverDrive's 2023 lending data, specifically the news that 662 million digital books were borrowed last year — an increase of 19 percent over 2022 — in order to keep rejecting claims that ebooks are just a sliver of the market.

Literary Hub, meanwhile, analyzed bestseller data to calculate which new books sold the most copies in 2023 — since the back catalogue typically dominates the bestseller list (think classics, beloved children's books, and original material for screen adaptations).

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the royal memoir Spare topped the list, followed by Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros and Dog Man: Twenty Thousand Fleas Under the Sea by Dav Pilkey.
