We have an expected intersection of pop culture and literature ... and something a little more out of left field.

The former: Netflix has released the official trailer for the show Ripley, which premieres April 4.

The limited series stars Andrew Scott as Tom Ripley in this adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's novels.

The latter: Taylor Swift and Emily Dickinson share more than just a knack for lyrical writing.

Genealogy company Ancestry announced on Monday that the pop superstar and the reclusive poet are both descended from a 17th-century Englishman who helped settle Windsor, Connecticut.

He's Swift’s ninth great-grandfather and Dickinson’s sixth great-grandfather.

Entertainment Weekly notes that Swift has previously compared her writing style on some songs to Dickinson and that one of her songs was featured in the TV show Dickinson
