Here are a few of the literary women receiving special recognition on International Women's Day!

  • Kathryn Scanlan has won the 2024 Gordon Burn Prize for her novel Kick the Latch (The Guardian).

  • Meet retired librarian and author Jean Armour Polly, who was inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame in 2019 for leading the effort to add internet access to public libraries (NPR).

  • Late author bell hooks now has a street named after her in her hometown of Hopkinsville, Kentucky (NPR)
