  • The movie adaptation of The Graveyard Book has been put on hold for multiple reasons, including the five allegations of sexual assault against the YA novel's author, Neil Gaiman (IndieWire).

  • Steve Silberman, author of the award-winning and public-perception-changing book NeuroTribes: The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity, died August 29 at age sixty-six (The New York Times).

  • The Giller Foundation removed the name of sponsor Scotiabank from its literary prize, in the announcement of the 2024 longlist, but Scotiabank's continued financial support still has many authors vocally angry because of the institution's investment in an Israeli weapons manufacturer (The Toronto Star).
