Here's the latest news on book bans, challenges, and other literary obstacles.

  • Jennie Pu, New Jersey’s librarian of the year, discusses efforts to counter the increasing number of book bans and to support the freedom to read (NPR).

  • PEN America and the American Library Association have both released reports documenting the effects of state laws that fuel — and endorse — book banning (The New York Times).

  • Is the Banned Wagon — a collaboration between Penguin Random House, Unite Against Book Bans, First Book, and Little Free Library — making a stop near you? (Book Riot).

  • Book bans get all the attention, but comics and graphic novels are certainly not immune to challenges (The Comics Journal).

  • The call to censor is increasingly coming from inside the house ... er, the school walls (Slate).
