Two well-known and influential nonfiction books hit publication milestones this year.
The fiftieth anniversary of Robert Caro's The Power Broker already made news, because the author had finally agreed to issue an e-edition of the work to mark the occasion.
This past week, Caro also appeared on All Things Considered to discuss this book and his other work; you can read a transcript of or listen to the conversation at NPR.
The other milestone work featured in mainstream media is Malcolm Gladwell's The Tipping Point, which was published twenty-four years ago (but begun a round quarter-century ago).
Gladwell, too, is revisiting the work ... and updating it, to the point of an entirely new book.
He talked with the Guardian about what he believes held up and fell short in the original book and also shared an excerpt from the spinoff book, Revenge of the Tipping Point.
(For what it's worth, The New York Times wasn't especially enamored by Revenge of the Tipping Point.)
