Celebrity book clubs have released their picks for October 2024.

Reese Witherspoon selected Society of Lies by Lauren Ling Brown.

The story follows Princeton alum Maya who returns to college for her reunion and her sister's graduation, but winds up investigating her sister's mysterious death instead ... and unpacking the role Maya may have played in it, inadvertently.

Jenna Bush Hager picked The Mighty Red by Louise Erdrich.

The book centers on the turmoil around one young woman — two men desperately want her; her mother wants to protect her — and the external turmoil of climate change and an economic crisis.

Good Morning America chose A Song to Drown Rivers by Ann Liang.

The novel, inspired by a legend, imagines a woman named Xishi so beautiful that a military advisor invites her to become a weapon for her country, making her both incredibly powerful and incredibly vulnerable.

You can read an excerpt of A Song to Drown Rivers in GMA's announcement of its selection.

I don't like paranormal cozy mysteries. Since there are so many, there should be a separate category.
