  • An advance copy of Melania Trump's upcoming memoir, to be released next week, reveals that the former first lady supports women's right to obtain abortions (The Guardian).

  • Ella Leffland, author of such novels as Rumors of Peace and The Knight, Death and the Devil (for which she traveled to Germany to interview surviving Third Reich war criminals), has died at the age of ninety-two (The New York Times).

  • Actress Reese Witherspoon and bestselling author Harlan Coben have teamed up to write a novel together; the title has yet to be revealed, but it's a thriller that will come out in fall 2025 (The Guardian). 

  • Half of the books on the 2024 Goldsmiths Prize shortlist are from debut novelists; the winner of the £10,000 ($13,100) purse will be revealed on November 6 (The Guardian).
