Professor Anson Rabinbach, author of In the Shadow of Catastrophe: German Intellectuals Between Apocalypse and Enlightenment, The Human Motor: Energy, Fatigue and the Origins of Modernity, and other scholarly works, died Sunday at age seventy-nine; Rabinbach was considered among the world's leading experts on the Nazi era (The New York Times).
