Today's news of literary awards and honors is a mix of the formal and informal.

  • Karen Leeder has won the 2025 Griffin Poetry Prize — and its C$130,000 (about $95,000) purse — for her translation of Durs Grünbein’s Psyche Running from its original German (Literary Hub). 

  • The winners of the Jhalak Prize for Writers of Colour have been announced: NS Nuseibeh for Namesake (prose); Mimi Khalvati for Collected Poems (poetry); and Nathanael Lessore for King of Nothing (children's and young adult) (The Guardian).

  • Amazon is the latest provider of a best books of the year so far list.
