Here's a roundup of news and reflections on literary adaptations.

  • Eruption, a novel begun by Michael Crichton and finished by James Patterson, will be adapted for the screen; writers have been hired and announced but a director is still being sought (Deadline).

  • The movie version of People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry will premiere on Netflix on January 9, and while you wait for a trailer, you can listen to the romantic leads — Tom Blyth and Emily Bader — "exchange a sweet bit of in-character dialogue" (Bustle).

  • Tickets to see Christoper Nolan's adaptation of The Odyssey at IMAX theaters have sold out, a full year before showings even take place, and scalped tickets are running over $200 apiece (Variety).
