  • Watch a teaser for Netflix's movie adaptation of Denis Johnson’s novella Train Dreams; the film stars Felicity Jones and Joel Edgerton and will be available to stream starting November 21 (YouTube).

  • Take a much more extensive look at Guillermo del Toro's movie adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, which is also expected to hit Netflix later this year (Vanity Fair).

  • In other classic literature news, James Folta recently discovered that back in 2010, biologists studying mice decided to name a particular pheromone in male mouse urine "darcin," after Pride and Prejudice's Mr. Darcy (Literary Hub).

  • Kobo ereaders will soon be able to save web articles again, with a new tech partnership coming to replace the now-defunct Pocket integration (Instapaper).

  • Thomas Sayers Ellis, an artist whose mediums included poetry, photography, and music, died July 17 at age sixty-one; he was also known for founding the Dark Room Collective, a famous community of Black poets (The New York Times).

  • Robert W. Fuller, a longtime academic who dedicated himself to the idea of dignity for all, as expressed in his book Somebodies and Nobodies: Overcoming the Abuse of Rank, died July 15 at age eighty-eight (The New York Times).
