Today's news of literary awards and honors is a mix of the formal and informal.

  • The Slip by Lucas Schaefer (fiction), King of Kings: The Iranian Revolution by Scott Anderson (nonfiction), and Everybelly by Thao Lam (young readers' literature) have won the 2025 Kirkus Prizes (Literary Hub).

  • Congratulations to writer Ocean Vuong for being among the TIME100 Next 2025 list, which celebrates people who are shaping the future (TIME).

  • Tommy Orange, author of There There and Wandering Stars, has been chosen as one of the 2025 MacArthur Fellows, receiving what's been nicknamed the "genius grant" worth $800,000 (MacArthur Foundation).

  • And finally, we have the winners of the 2025 Harvey Awards, which honor the best of the best in comics (Book Riot).
