Today's news of literary awards and honors is a mix of the formal and informal.

Formal awards
  • Stephen Narain has won the Restless Books 2025 Kellman Prize for Immigrant Literature for his novel The Church of Mastery (Literary Hub).

  • The Whiting Foundation has revealed the ten winners of the 2025 Whiting Nonfiction Grant for Works-in-Progress (Literary Hub).

Informal awards
  • Kelly Jensen analyzed a number of best-of lists to see which books appeared most often, along with comparing the results to some of the summer's best-so-far lists (Book Riot).

  • The New York Times highlighted its favorite hidden gem books as well as its favorite mystery novels of 2025.
