  • Meanwhile, Anna Dempsey, author of the unpublished novel This Is About an Alligator and Nothing Else, has received the inaugural Hilary Mantel Prize for Fiction (The Guardian).

  • Writer Tananarive Due will serve as the toastmaster at this year's Nebula Awards, which take place June 3-7 (Locus).

  • Brian Doherty, who wrote books about libertarianism, 1960s underground comics, and the Burning Man festival, died March 13 at age fifty-seven (The New York Times).
