The Stand is becoming the story that never ends.
Stephen King had to wrap up the original version of the book at 800 pages, because his publisher couldn’t physically produce anything longer.
Over a decade later, King had a different company release a 1,200-page version that added on to the 1978 edition.
And now, viewers of the upcoming TV adaptation of The Stand will get to watch yet another new coda to the post-apocalyptic horror tale, a CBS official has told Deadline.
Deadline believes that this new material comes immediately after the (second version of the) novel’s end and that it will be a substantial part of the show.
King himself has written this new coda and tweeted that it "has been in my mind for 30 years."
The Stand will air on CBS All Access; the nine-episode series stars James Marsden and Amber Heard.
