As kids, we’re taught to be modest and graciously accept praise, rather than proudly repeating it.

So no wonder few authors gleefully report on how much they love the marketing and promoting side of their careers.

Sandra Beckwith invites you to recast your thinking, though, and consider two points.

One, you’re not promoting yourself — you’re promoting your book.

That still might seem a bit self-congratulatory, though, which leads to her second point — that book promotion is a public service.

Huh? Well, there are readers out there who will want this book ... but how can they enjoy it if they’re not aware of it?

You can read more of Beckwith’s thoughts on The Book Designer.
