The trailer for Apple TV’s upcoming show about poet Emily Dickinson was released earlier this week.

Called simply Dickinson, it stars Hailee Steinfeld and debuts this fall (no word on precisely when) on the Apple TV app.

We knew it was going to be an unusual take on the reclusive, introverted poet — seeing as it was billed as a humorous series when news first broke — but the trailer seems to have caught many viewers off guard.

The Guardian’s Adrian Horton contrasts it with the trailer for the upcoming Little Women adaptation, noting that the latter reboot “goes more for the sweet spot between historical faithfulness and modern expressions of emotion.”

Horton’s take on the two trailers is a bit more charitable than the reaction of the Los Angeles Times and Vulture, both of which should give you a chuckle (and likely a heartier one than the trailer will).
