Congratulations twice over to author John le Carré!
The award honors a person of “outstanding achievement” in the spirit of the Polme, the Swedish prime minister who was assassinated in 1986.
According to the Guardian, authors rarely receive this award, though le Carré is not the first.
It points out that his works frequently criticize abuses of power — for instance, his most recent novel, Agent Running in the Field, describes intrigue between Donald Trump, pro-Brexit England, and Russia.
