For many of us, requesting a favor or help can feel unnatural and a bit awkward.

In the case of endorsements of your writing, though, you need to work through those emotions and make your case.

Barbara Linn Probst compared her own discomfort with the process to her experience doing a private adoption years ago.

In both situations, the attitude shift she needed was away from “convince someone to give me what I want” and toward “connect with the other person in an authentic, genuine way.”
