Yesterday we learned that two of the Booker Prize longlist authors, Brandon Taylor and C Pam Zhang, are also close friends who wrote their novels by each other’s side.

Today we get to top that story, with this news out of Ireland: a writer and her daughter are both on the 2020 Butler Literary Award shortlist.

Cathy Sweeney (mother) and Lucy Sweeney Byrne (daughter) are among the five contenders for the prize, which honors the best first publication by an Irish writer in any literary form, or a first publication in a new form by an already published writer, with $2,000.

You can read a bit more about this unusual circumstance in the Irish Times.
