The Booker Prize joins the long list of events and celebrations that have been rescheduled in 2020.

But this time, it’s not because of the coronavirus pandemic.

It’s instead to avoid a clash with a highly anticipated book release: the first volume of former President Barack Obama’s memoirs, A Promised Land.

The Booker Prize Foundation has announced that the Booker Prize ceremony will take place November 19, instead of November 17.

“We thought it unfortunate that two of the most exciting literary events of the year — the announcement of the winner of the 2020 Booker Prize and the publication of Barack Obama’s memoirs — were due to fall on the same day, so we’ve decided to give readers a couple of days' breathing space,” said Gaby Wood, literary director of the Booker Prize Foundation, in a news release.
