Rick Riordan has a message for bookworms: he gets your frustration about movie adaptations.

Boy, does he ever.

In a recent interview with the Guardian, he didn’t hold back on his criticisms about the film version of his book The Lightning Thief.

But he’s optimistic that no butcher job will happen again — he and his wife are taking active roles in the upcoming series based on the Kane Chronicles and the Percy Jackson books.
