Author Viet Thanh Nguyen’s follow-up to his 2016 Pulitzer Prize winner hit shelves yesterday.
The Committed is the sequel to The Sympathizer, which in addition to winning the Pulitzer also brought its author the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction, an Edgar Award, and the Dayton Literary Peace Prize.
Nguyen’s new novel picks up in early 1980s Paris, where the Communist double agent known as the “man of two minds” and his blood brother are now working as drug dealers.
The New York Times has an excerpt of The Committed, and of course Nguyen has been making the interview rounds, too.
