Many of us have found ourselves thinking back to this time a full year ago, when it became apparent that COVID-19 was going to disrupt our lives (if it hadn’t already).
In-person events were being postponed or canceled, and our favorite places to congregate were starting to close, too — including story time at the local library.
Thankfully, unlike during long-ago pandemics, we had technology to help fill those voids and boost attendance far beyond what it would’ve been for a real-life event.
For example, one particular story time event at the Brooklyn Public Library has drawn audiences in the thousands, reports NPR.
Tenzin Kalsang, a bilingual librarian there, had to move her Tibetan story time online almost a year ago — and it’s been a runaway success, despite the nerves she had the night before its premiere.
You can hear some audience reviews (as well as snippets of Tibetan) below or read a transcript of the segment on NPR’s website.
