Forgive us for bringing up one more character in your book to consider.

Editor Diana M. Pho wants authors to remember that their main character’s sidekick, if they exist, needs to serve some sort of purpose.

In the past, the sidekick’s role was relatively limited, but in modern fiction, they tend to have a fuller personality and broader function.
