A scammer successfully posed as the winner of the 2020 Rathbones Folio prize, stealing £30,000 (about $41,500) from the charity that administers the award.

Literary Hub reports that the scammer, posing as 2020 winner Valeria Luiselli, requested payment via PayPal and received it.
(The real Luiselli has also received £30,000.)

Other prizes have also been targeted, albeit unsuccessfully, reports Lit Hub, which also previously shared news of a scammer hijacking an author’s donation appeals on Twitter.
