More sexual assault allegations against writer Blake Bailey have emerged.
The New York Times, in reporting the earlier claims made by Bailey’s former students, added a new account from publishing executive Valentina Rice, who says Bailey raped her in 2015.
While Rice didn’t report it at the time, she later reached out to Bailey’s publisher, who, in turn, didn’t respond but did share her email with Bailey.
Bailey responded to Rice and denied assaulting her; he has denied the accusations made by former students as well.
The publisher that Rice reached out to is W.W. Norton, the same one that announced Wednesday that all publication and promotion of Bailey’s new book, Philip Roth: The Biography, would be halted in light of the sexual misconduct claims.
Meanwhile, Vintage Books, Bailey’s publisher in the UK, has said it will continue to release the Roth biography.
