A recent New York Times article, while acknowledging that print book sales rose during the COVID-19 pandemic, seemed to take an overall pessimistic view of the publishing industry.

Jane Friedman wants to assure anyone who read it, however, that there’s far more to the story than what the Times reported.

Her analysis of the pandemic's effect on publishing covers trends at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, online sales, and audio sales and subscription services.
