What a sad week it’s been in children’s literature: Lois Ehlert has also died.
The Associated Press reports that she died Tuesday at age eighty-six.
Ehlert illustrated a number of books — including 1989’s Chicka Chicka Boom Boom — and wrote others as well.
Like Eric Carle, who passed away a few days ago, Ehlert came to children’s books later in life and quickly made up for lost time.
Her other popular books include Planting a Rainbow, Eating the Alphabet, and Waiting for Wings.
