There must be something about writing children’s books — another beloved author of them has passed away only after reaching quite the impressive age.
Joan Walsh Anglund, who wrote more than 120 children’s books that have sold over 50 million copies globally, has died at age 95.
Some of her books include A Friend Is Someone Who Likes You (her smash hit debut), Love Is a Special Way of Feeling, Childhood Is a Time of Innocence, and What Color Is Love?.
But, as the New York Times points out, Anglund was also recognizable through the illustrations she did for these books — children with only two dots for eyes, little more, which became popular Hallmark collectibles.
