The sequel to the late U.S. Rep. John Lewis’s award-winning memoir came out this month.
Run: Book One picks up where the March trilogy concluded: with the passage of the Voting Rights Act.
But as we know, the work wasn’t done — and that’s where Run takes us.
Reviewer Marc Lacey says this theme is a natural fit for the times we find ourselves in, with battles over voting access and demands for social justice once again at the forefront.
(This makes sense, as most of the work on the book was done shortly before Lewis’s July 2020 death.)
And while he wasn’t sure how a graphic novel would handle such content, he came away confident that it was the perfect medium for the message.
