Kris Rusch admits it: She struggles to wrap her mind around the possible for international growth in literature.

But don’t take that as her blessing to ignore global markets — the reason she struggles is because the potential is just so vast.

In Rusch’s latest business musings post on the digital divide, she shares one incredible statistic from The New Publishing Standard that illustrates this point.

As of its June 2021 article, there were 5.2 billion internet users, and of those, just 6 percent were in the US.

So if you’re focusing only on the US — something that we as a country are accustomed to doing — you’re missing out on immense opportunities.
