A real-life watch featured prominently in fiction is headed to auction next month.
In the novel Ulysses, James Joyce describes a pocket watch worn by the character John O’Connell, based heavily on an actual person with the same name.
The real O’Connell’s watch — an 18-carat gold piece with a chain — will be auctioned off November 4 and could fetch £80,000 (over $109,000).
You can learn more about the real-life John O’Connell at Literary Hub and learn more about the auction from Bonhams.
