The Digital Reader highlighted two deals related to audiobooks in his Morning Coffee roundup post.

The one with more name recognition, at least to US residents, is Spotify’s acquisition of digital audiobook distributor Findaway.

TechCrunch reports that details of the deal, which is subject to regulatory review and approval, weren’t made public.

Spotify’s head of audiobooks did, however, confirm that the company’s hope was to give users access to audiobooks within the platform, rather than outside of it.

Findaway connects audiobook creators with retail partners including and Storytel, the members of the other deal that The Digital Reader highlighted.

Storytel, which is a Swedish audiobook streaming group, will buy to help it expand into the English-language audio market, Reuters reported.

Storytel told Reuters that it currently has 1.7 million subscribers in 25 markets with around 700,000 titles globally, while is in over 150 countries with 300,000 titles.
