New book shares theory on who betrayed Anne Frank and her family

A new book that comes out tomorrow identifies the man who possibly revealed Anne Frank's location to the Nazis.

The Betrayal of Anne Frank by Rosemary Sullivan uses six years of research gathered by a retired FBI detective and his team in support of its claim.

Arnold van den Bergh, who was also Jewish, is believed to have provided the Nazis with the hiding locations of many families, including the Franks.

But Sullivan's book and an accompanying documentary stress that van den Bergh would have only been acting to save his family and himself.

"Personally, I think he is a tragic figure," Sullivan told the Guardian.

The Guardian and Dutch News each have much more to share regarding van den Bergh, including how much Otto Frank (Anne's father) and Miep Gies (who helped hide the Franks initially) knew about the betrayal.
