Richard Russo’s Straight Man could be coming to television.

Deadline reports that AMC is developing an adaptation of the 1997 novel, starring Better Call Saul’s Bob Odenkirk.

If the project is approved, it would premiere in 2023.

Perhaps better news for most Russo fans is that the author told the Portland Press Herald that while he’s “delighted” about the show, he can’t answer questions about it — he’s too busy finishing the untitled third installment in his Fool series.

Straight Man is the story of college professor and department chairman Hank Devereaux’s epically bad week.
