A book submitted to The Fussy Librarian certainly caught my eye recently, and not necessarily because of the cover, title, or genre.

It was because an author whose work I greatly admire had contributed an endorsement.

No doubt most authors would love to be in that position — but they might also see it as a pipe dream.

Author Barbara Linn Probst won't claim that securing a blurb endorsement is actually easy or guaranteed.

She has, however, been on both sides of this scenario (as the requested and requestor) and developed a set of best practices for asking for a book endorsement, shared on Jane Friedman's blog.
