Planning for the worst-case scenario is common advice in many areas.

But planning for the best-case scenario? Sure, your best friend probably tells you that, whether you're weighing a tiny or huge decision ... and you likely dismiss them as ridiculously optimistic.

In any case, Kristine Kathryn Rusch agrees with your bestie.

Authors are, in her experience and words, a mix of insecurity and ego; many are more likely to remember the one criticism over the multiple pieces of praise.

And they might see their expectation of failure as pragmatic, but it can actually harm them, business-wise.

Rusch provides real-life examples of how not dreaming big cost writers and other content creators in her exhortation to authors to plan for — and expect — success.
